GB News breaking news interrupted as furious Donald Trump clash explodes

The channel paused its regular programming to report that Jimmy Kimmel will deliver a Christmas message on Channel 4 in the UK. The monologue is expected to satirize what Kimmel called “a great year” from a “fascism perspective.” This comes months after the talk show host faced criticism in the US for comments about the murder of Charlie Kirk, in which he accused Trump and his allies of exploiting the tragedy.

During the broadcast, presenter Ben Leo reminded viewers why Kimmel had faced backlash, highlighting that he wrongly claimed Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, was a MAGA supporter and refused to correct the record. Guest Paul Cox immediately challenged this, arguing that the real threat to free speech was the assassination of Kirk during a university talk, not Kimmel’s comments.

Matthew Stadlen defended his perspective, emphasizing that while Kirk’s murder was a heinous act, the broader societal concern was Trump’s apparent influence over media networks a move Stadlen described as “profoundly chilling” given that the United States prides itself on free speech protections under the Constitution.

Kimmel’s controversial commentary following Kirk’s death criticized the “MAGA gang” for trying to distance themselves from the killer and accused Trump of responding to the tragedy like a “four-year-old mourning a goldfish.” Amid growing conservative backlash and warnings from FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, ABC temporarily pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air.

Since then, Kimmel has returned and secured a contract extension through May 2027, keeping him on screens despite the controversy.
