‘Disturbing’ moment 'addled' Trump accidentally reads aloud private note on live TV

Donald Trump found himself in an awkward moment after accidentally reading a private note from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a live press briefing.

The incident happened while Trump was addressing operations in Venezuela, following the controversial capture of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, with the US claiming interim control of the country. Rubio had scribbled a note and handed it to Trump, who, without realizing the private nature of the message, read it aloud for everyone to hear:

“Marco just gave me a note… ‘Go back to Chevron, they want to discuss something.’ Go ahead, I’m going back to Chevron. Thank you Marco!”

The exchange caused a brief moment of confusion. Trump, slightly red-faced and laughing nervously, turned to the Chevron representative, who asked: “Was there a question, Mr. President?” He then looked back at Rubio: “Go ahead, Marco, what are you saying here?”

The discussion continued with someone off-camera requesting a detailed update: “If you can update us on operations on the ground, approvals, what you might be able to achieve in the next 12-18 months, give us a little view from the ground.” The Chevron representative responded: “You bet, today Chevron has 3,000 employees in four different joint ventures in Venezuela…”

Viewers quickly took to social media to comment on Trump’s gaffe. One person wrote on X: “His brain is addled.” Others joked about how the scenario would play out differently if President Biden had done the same thing, while some criticized the scene as chaotic and unprofessional, calling it “ineptitude at its finest.”

The incident left many watching the press conference shaking their heads at the awkward display and questioning the administration’s control over sensitive communications.
