First look at Melania Trump’s £40m Amazon documentary

For the first time, Melania Trump is opening the doors to her private world.

A new Amazon MGM Studios documentary titled Melania offers rare, behind-the-scenes access to the former First Lady as she prepares for a return to the White House. The newly released trailer hints at an unusually intimate portrayal of a woman who has long remained one of the most guarded figures in modern American political life.

The film opens with a striking moment: Melania Trump, wearing the now-famous wide-brimmed black-and-white hat from Donald Trump’s second inauguration, turns toward the camera and calmly says, “Here we go again.” From there, the trailer moves quickly through scenes of presidential ceremonies, security briefings, family moments, and life inside the East Wing.

Viewers are shown glimpses of Mar-a-Lago, private family photographs, and rarely seen footage from inside official White House spaces. Appearances by her son Barron Trump and her father, Viktor Knavs, add a personal dimension rarely associated with Melania’s public image. In one tense moment, she asks a man believed to be a Secret Service agent a simple but revealing question: “Is it safe?”

The 104-minute documentary is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, followed by streaming availability on Amazon Prime Video. Melania Trump also serves as a producer on the project, signaling a carefully controlled and intentional presentation of her story.

The trailer highlights dramatic visuals, including Melania arriving at her husband’s inaugural ball under heavy security, walking ahead with quiet composure as Donald Trump follows behind. Promotional material invites audiences to “Witness History in the Making,” positioning Melania as a central figure navigating the pressures of public scrutiny, security risks, and ceremonial expectations.

Additional scenes show her aboard Air Force One, offering a rare look at presidential travel during a politically sensitive transition period. The documentary promises exclusive footage of critical meetings and private conversations as Melania moves between Trump Tower in New York, Mar-a-Lago in Florida, and Washington, D.C., following the 2024 election.

More intimate moments appear throughout the trailer, including Melania seated at a formal dinner table and walking through stark backstage corridors in dark sunglasses and a tailored white coat, flanked by Secret Service agents. These scenes suggest a focus on the emotional and logistical realities of returning to one of the most scrutinized roles in the world.

Alongside the film, Amazon MGM Studios has also announced a three-part docuseries that will further explore Melania Trump’s life during this period. Together, the projects aim to present what Melania has described as a “rare and defining moment,” one that required careful planning, discipline, and presentation.

Whether viewers see it as a personal portrait, a political artifact, or a carefully crafted image reset, Melania marks a significant shift in how the former First Lady chooses to tell her story and how much of it she is finally willing to share.
