Donald Trump loses it as he claims TV presenter should be 'put to sleep'

US President Donald Trump recently launched a fiery social media rant targeting several US late-night TV hosts. After mostly focusing on political topics in recent posts, Trump shifted attention to Stephen Colbert, the host of CBS’s The Late Show, which is set to end next year.

Trump criticized Colbert harshly, calling him a “pathetic trainwreck” with “no talent,” and claimed his ratings were “nonexistent.” He also suggested CBS should “put him to sleep,” framing it as a “humanitarian” act. His attack extended to other late-night hosts on CBS, ABC, and NBC, accusing them of high salaries, low talent, and poor ratings.

In addition, Trump criticized what he sees as negative media coverage of himself, his administration, and the Republican Party, even suggesting that the broadcast licenses of networks that are “almost 100% negative” toward him should be terminated. He concluded his posts with a “Merry Christmas” message.

Colbert isn’t the only target of Trump’s criticism. He has frequently clashed with late-night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Seth Meyers over jokes about him. Kimmel, for instance, called Trump’s actions “un-American” after he reportedly celebrated the temporary suspension of his show, arguing that the former president tried to cancel him for taking a joke.

This latest outburst highlights the ongoing tension between Trump and the entertainment media, with social media serving as the platform for his confrontational messages.
