LBC radio host Iain Dale delivered a sharp rebuke to Donald Trump following the US President’s latest attack on London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Trump reignited his long-standing feud with Khan, criticizing London’s handling of immigration and claiming the mayor has done a “terrible job.”
In a recent interview, Trump described Khan as a “horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor” and expressed concern over London allowing “people just to come in… unchecked, unvetted.” He added, “I love London. And I hate to see it happen.”
Responding to Trump’s remarks this morning, Dale dismissed the President’s warnings about crime in London, saying, “I don’t feel unsafe walking the streets of London. Yes, we have crime, as any big city does. But is it really worse than New York, Detroit, or Chicago?”
The host then delivered a pointed 10-word message to Trump: “Look after your own backyard before you start insulting ours.” Dale emphasized that while London faces challenges, it is not the crime-ridden city Trump and others, including JD Vance, make it out to be.
Reactions to Dale’s comments have been mixed. Some supporters praised his courage, while others shared personal experiences highlighting safety concerns in London. One user noted, “You are more likely to be murdered in the USA than in the UK. Gun violence doesn’t need elaborating… Trump is attacking London because he’s weak.”
Another added, “Good to see Iain Dale has more backbone than our government and the opposition leaders.” Meanwhile, some expressed skepticism about Dale’s perspective, with one remarking, “Could almost guarantee that Iain does not walk the streets of London.”
