Trump issues cryptic 6-word remark on peace deal after raging at 'ungrateful' Ukraine

Over the weekend, former President Donald Trump criticized Ukraine’s leadership amid ongoing US efforts to broker a peace deal with Russia.

Just a day after calling Ukrainian officials “ungrateful,” Trump signaled that progress toward a peace agreement might be on the horizon. In a post on Truth Social on November 24, he wrote: “Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine? Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

This comes as international leaders gathered in Geneva to negotiate terms acceptable to both Kyiv and Moscow, following Russia’s unlawful invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Reports of a 28-point US-brokered peace plan emerged over the weekend. However, European leaders, including UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, emphasized that additional work is needed. The European Council issued a statement saying: “We welcome the continued US efforts to bring peace to Ukraine. The initial draft of the 28-point plan includes important elements that will be essential for a just and lasting peace. We believe therefore that the draft is a basis which will require additional work.”

Following this, Trump sharply criticized Ukraine’s leadership for showing “zero gratitude” for US peace efforts and condemned European nations for relying on Russian oil and gas. The original plan reportedly required Ukraine to cede territory not under Russian occupation, give up some areas already seized by Russian forces, and abandon its NATO ambitions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the difficult decision Kyiv faces: the choice between preserving dignity or maintaining a key alliance with the US. On Monday, he emphasized the need for European support to ensure Ukraine’s borders are respected, war criminals are held accountable, and Russia fully pays for its aggression.
